Stage 5: down to the coast
From Yaiza, begin a descent until we find the coast again.
There is, however, one stretch riding on a trail where there are a lot of rocks. Although you will be riding on asphalt, we insist that the beauty of the stage and the lack of traffic make it highly recommendable.
It starts with asphalt, we leave this to turn a small volcano crater, the watchtower of the Femes. The path that takes us down to the Gulf is technical and fun. From the Gulf to Janubio are very tourist roads in which the attraction is at that point in particular, pond Cycles, hot springs, salt of Janubio. Here we abandon the route to go through the Breñas – Casa Mario. Descent along a hilarious path. Finally, we return to the coast through a quarry (or so we think) to get into walk mode and return to the bike lanes and urbanizations until Playa Blanca.
The last few kilometers follow a lonely coastal trail through practically lunar landscapes - sometimes difficult to find the path in the rocky desert. (GPS necessary!).
El Golfo cratère volcanique
Laguna Verde - lagune vert flash sur un plage de cailloux gris/noirs avec des falaises ocre, rouge et grises. C’est très impressionnant.
Salinas de Janubio
We discovered two charming places, Casa Mario, where we drank the best mojo, I do not say of the island, but of how many we take and the best tiramisu cake.
The Charco Verde where Pedro Almodóvar was inspired for his film, “Los Abrazos Rotos”
The coast of Los Hervideros are also remarkable pour les vagues.
Playa Blanca, a town surrounded by urbanizations.
