Turn-by-turn directions

From the village square cross over the bridge to the Hotel Bischofsmütze, from the left of the Hotel Bischofsmütze a narrow, steep climb leads up over the Kalvarienberg with several pictures of the stations of the cross along the climb, past the stations of the cross chapel (beautiful view of the church and cemetery), through the forest until you reach a road by the House Fritzenwallner  (beautiful view over Filzmoos). Walk along the road as far as the Kleinberg access road and turn off right towards the Kleinberg, directly by the Kleinberg a wider path leads steadily upwards (in the winter, toboggan run). On the right, a small forest path, the Jägersteig (Hunters´Climb), branches off with the fence crossing. Follow this until you reach a forest road. Turn right and continue down to the Marcheggsattel. Directly on the Marcheggsattel, a small trail branches off to the right through steep terrain uphill into the forrest to the Wiesenhöhe, a small raised bog. Alpine Club Route No. 634. From the Wiesenhöhe a trail leads along serpentine roads, partly over rocky terrain, steeply uphill until the Hofpürglhütte emerges in front of you. (Walking time from Marcheggsattel: approx. 2 hours) TIP: Small saddle with a wonderful view of Aualm, Hofalmen, Almsee, Bischofsmütze and Rettenstein.
