Kebnekaise is places in Swedish Lapland to the west of Kiruna. It is the tallest mountain in whole Sweden. The Kebnekaise is a part of the Scandinavian Mountains. Kebnekaise can be accessed through different tracks around the region. Therefore, you are free to choose which one is better for your skills and experience.

It is one of the most diverse hiking trips in Sweden that offer experience of almost everything from glaciers and Sami villages to flat ravineы and exposed valleys. Actually, there are two main tourist trails that goes up to the peak of Kebnekaise. Östra leden is east route and Västra leden is west route.

The western trail is more straight and easier. It is public and can be reached without guide help. You can hike and enjoy the stunning views of the landscape around you.

The eastern path is shorter, but it requires some climbing and glacier skills and experience.

Kebnekaise Fjällstation is fully equipped mountain station that is a beginning location of hike to Kebnekaise. Then just follow well-marked trail to the top.

Getting there

From Kiruna drive in the direction of Nikkaluokta about 63 km and find parking area there. Then go about 19 km to Kebnekaise Fjällstation which is the mountain station.

Parking area can be found in Nikkaluokta.
