The Kröpelin Gate is one of the former 22 gates of the medieval fortification of Rostock.
The Gothic gate was first mentioned in 1280. It originally consisted of two floors and was extended in the 15th century to its present height of 54 metres. Since May 2005 the "Geschichtswerkstatt Rostock" (history workshop Rostock) has been using the gate for exhibitions, events and thematic city tours. In addition, visitors can obtain information about the city and enjoy a beautiful view of the city wall from above.
