The Portuguese city of Valença is a border city to the autonomous province of Galicia in northern Spain. It is located on the Rio Minho and is also a stop on the Portuguese Way is St. James. The city is surrounded by fortress walls from the 17th century. The old town of Valença is under monumental protection.
