The local museum in Diepolz shows the way of daily life of the farmers in the mountains of the region. The versatile exhibition attracts the whole family.

The museum is particularly suitable for families with children. The open air museum is located at an altitude of 1000 m and shows historic buidlings, different exhibitions around the topic animals, especially cows, and a herb and farmers garden. Old and young guests get an insight into the life and hard work of the farmers in the alps. For example you can discover how the stomach of a cow looks from inside: In the accessible imitation of a cows stomach you get an idea of how gras becomes milk. The small visitors enjoy jumping in the hay or at the playing grounds. There is a reconstructed dairyman's kitchen and a shepherd's room to get an insight into the alpine farming. In late summer it is worth following the festivities when cows return from the mountains to the valleys and to their owners (Almabtrieb).

Complete the day at the museum with a hearty snack and a fantastic panorama view of the Ammergauer and Appenzeller mountains. If you want to bring home a souvenir, you should visit the museums shop and the alpine dairy.
