The excursion that leads to the UNESCO Geographical Center of the Dolomites crosses the Ombretta Valley under the imposing south face of the Marmolada in a path suitable for everyone.
It is a very suggestive valley, full of grazing cows and nice marmots.
This excursion'll take you to an enchanted Alpine lake ensconced in a solitary basin among the Cime d'Auta mountain chain, also nicknamed "Lèch dei Giai" because in the summer grouse cocks nest here and wild alpine ibex inhabit this wild mountain terrain.
However beautiful in every season, this hike is perfect on a winter night with a full moon. The five kilometer long route, with its 300 meters of elevation gain , guarantees two and half hours of incredible landscapes.
