3 3

The Banat is located in the far west of Romania between the rivers Mureş, Tisa and Danube. The economic and cultural centre is Timişoara, also called "Little Vienna" because of the many baroque buildings.

The region is a good example for the peaceful coexisting of the most different cultures since here beside the Romanian lived also Hungarians, Danube Swabians, Jews, Croats, Bulgarians, Armenians, Slovaks and Czechs.
