Musandam

The Musandam peninsula lies south of the "Strait of Hormuz". This makes it a central, strategic location for the Sultanate: anyone wishing to ship oil from the Persian Gulf must pass through this strait. The region also offers a varied landscape and culture: visitors come to the deeply cut fjords and discover medieval castles built to protect the Sultanate against pirates.
