Explore the Ötztal mountains on foot

“You were only really there if you went there on foot” German poet Goethe once said. So, it’s ideal for all hiking fans that the Ötztal offers them a wide variety of opportunities to explore the region on foot. On the one hand, there are walks across the lush meadows and quiet Waal paths. Individualists and families have 1800 km of hiking and mountain trails at their disposal. After a strenuous hike, “g'schmackige Bergjausen” (tasty mountain snacks) tempt you in the many alpine pastures and huts on the mountain. Those who prefer a less sporty way to experience the dreamlike Ötztal mountain world around the highest mountain in North Tyrol, the Wildspitze, choose the ascent by mountain railway. Once at the top, you can hike at a leisurely pace from alpine pasture to alpine pasture and enjoy the mountain scenery. Hiking buses take hikers comfortably to the desired starting points in the Ötztal.
Full flow in the Bike Republic Sölden
The Ötztal has made a name for itself as a biking region not only with the legendary Ötztal Cycling Marathon, which has taken place annually since 1982. The region has long been a place of longing for cyclists, mountain bikers and racing cyclists. Since the founding of the ‘Bike Republic Sölden’, the region's single trail offer has been constantly expanded, for example with the "Rolling" pump track or the ‘Teäre Line’ flow trail - ensuring carefree downhill fun. But classic mountain bikers, e-bikers and family cyclists also get their money's worth on the 700 kilometres of routes - from single trails to signposted forest paths. The latest equipment for every type of bike can be rented from the local sports equipment dealers.

Leisure activities for kids
In addition to the many possibilities offered to adults in the region, children also learn in the Ötztal that a holiday in the mountains can be pretty cool. On the one hand, there is the childcare at WIDI's kids' club. The children are fascinated by the trained supervisor when she tells them about Manni, the buddy of the cuddly mascot WIDI. And as soon as the children find out that Manni suddenly disappeared last night, there's no stopping them - they all run through the forest in search of him. The little ones can also experience action in the high ropes course, geocaching, rafting or canyoning, on a guided nature park family hike with a play programme or in the Kids Park, one of the largest playgrounds in the Ötztal.
