Birding walk. Lesser Spotted Woodpecker up from Undercleave; cormorant up then down R. Yarty; curlew heard along Yarty; Blackcap singing before Churchill - very melodious and fluty, and hoped for Nightingale!
Electric fence to straddle after Undercleave: strip of plastic over one section.
Path unclear at Yarty Farm: map path goes up ditch E of farm but quickly overgrown - now routed W through farmyard. Path closed at Waterhouse Farm: diversion was NE of farm, but not indicated by diversion notice.
Path through Brinscombe Copse very enclosed and eroded.
Intended path route E from Twist unclear so took road to Churchill, cutting off last corner via marked field path.
