Abtenau: Schwarzenbach-Rossbühel winter hike

Walk up between the Hotel Post and the Raiffeisenbank Abtenau and follow trail R30 towards Voglau. The road first passes a few farms and then narrows to a path that always leads along the Schwarzenbach stream. In the cold winter weather this hike is very attractive because trees and bushes are full of hoarfrost. After about 600m along the gravel path, you pass the abandoned farm and turn right over the bridge onto a hiking trail. After about 500m through the forest, turn left after the houses onto the prepared winter hiking trail. At the Mühlrain church, cross the main road and follow the path to the asphalt road (hiking trail no. 160), on which the hike now continues. After about 1 kilometre, you have the option of changing to the prepared winter hiking trail next to the Egelsee cross-country ski trail. Here you can enjoy the tranquillity of the Egelsee nature recreation area and the winter hike far from the road. From the car park at Gasthof Sonnenhof (refreshment stop), the road leads back to the centre of Abtenau and the starting point.
