Crossing Rote Flüh and the via ferrata "Friedberger Klettersteig"
The Rote Flüh owes its name to the red limestone that appears in many places on its flanks and which gives the mountain a remarkable hue in the setting sun. The summit is a good 2100 m high and rises above the village of Nesselwängle in the Tannheim Valley. > The Rote Flüh is the destination of numerous mountaineers in summer, who head for the summit on the normal route through a cirque to the east. Much more difficult routes lead alpine climbers over the north face and sport climbers over the south face. The descent of the Rote Flüh is a bit more difficult. After the descent from the Rote Flüh via its west side, which is secured with steel ropes and some artificial footholds, we join the Friedberger via ferrata up to the Schartschrofen, after which we return to the valley via the Gessenwangalpe.
