PD013 - The Great Ridge

Leave the car park by the steps adjacent to the toilet block and turn right along the minor road towards Edale.Just before the church (hidden by trees) take the footpath left across fields as sign-posted. Follow the yellow way-marks eventually crossing the railway via the bridge.Continue downhill to reach the minor road at Barber Booth.

Cross the stream and turn right along the narrow lane towards Upper Booth.After 200 yards take the footpath left, uphill, keeping between the right hand fence and the small stream.Cross several stiles and pass the ruined Manor House Farm on your left to reach the stony Chapel Gate track.Follow this steeply uphill. The track eventually levels out to become a sandy path and reaches a wall with another track running right to left.

Cross the road and take the stepped path uphill to reach the summit of Mam Tor.Head East keeping to the ridge top path (paved) passing Hollins Cross.

Continue along the ridge to the base of Back Tor.

Here cross the fence, left, via the stile and descend steeply downhill towards Backtor Farm.Pass the farm to the right and take the farm access track downhill to cross the stream and reach the minor road.
