Višegrad, a city on the Drina River, is famous for the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, one of the most significant national monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 500-year-old bridge is a leitmotif of a famous novel written by Ivo Andrić, ''The Bridge on the Drina'' -- a work which brought the author a Nobel Prize for literature in 1961. In his honor, Andrićgrad was established on the riverbank.
From this very point, on August 1, 2015, at 00:00 am, the first ultra trail race started. It takes you from the banks of the Drina, across tops of Ivica and Sjemeć mountains, Stjenice, Glasinac field and Mount Romanija, to the top of Jahorina Mountain.
