La Dent de Vaulion

This circular tour starts on the footpath of the right bank of the Orbe. For the second section, the "Pouette Combe" gorge and the "Ruisseau des Epoisats" stream are the signposts. Only after Epoisats does the trail keep to the hiking trail to Petite Dent-Dessous. Across alpine pastures, the barren Dent de Vaulion peak, characteristic of the Jura, is reached. While in the south the summit is relatively easy to reach because of its gentle slope, in the north there are steep rock faces of up to 200m. From here, the view flies over the Vallorbe valley basin, into the Vallée de Joux over the Geneva and Neuchâtel valleys and onto the Alpine chain including Mont Blanc. With a view to the northeast, the descent begins over the wooded ridge. At La Mâche, the trail enters the spruce forest again and stays on this path until shortly before Vallorbe.
