This 7 km long snowshoe trail follows the Circular Trail of Linnansaari National Park, which is the park's most popular hiking trail. It takes you through varied and semi-demanding terrain to groves and hill tops, even in winter. On the trail, you will also cross the Linnansaarenlampi pond via duckboard bridge with handrails. Along the route, you will also find the camping sites of Perpulanluhta and Sammakkoniemi. Go up the Linnavuori hill and admire the idyllic winter scenery of the frozen Haukivesi from the scenic viewpoint.
You can get to the start point of the route from Sammakkoniemi Camping, where you will find campfire sites, a cooking shelter, and a rental sauna. The route is marked with orange circles.
Safety informationThere are benches and information boards along the route. To ensure the safety of the visitors, the thickness of the ice on the trail is measured regularly. There is no winter maintenance on the snowshoeing trails.
Note! For your own safety and for the nesting of the Saimaa ringed seal, please stay on the marked trails in the national park. Stay on the outdoor/ice-skating trail on ice and on the snowshoeing/hiking trail in Linnansaari.
Tips and hintsYou can get to the main island of Linnansaari National Park with a snowmobile sleigh ride across the frozen Lake Saimaa from Oravi (approx. 6 km). The ride leaves Oravi daily at 10 am.
