A moderately difficult route running between woodland and mid-alpine pastures to the Bella Tola mountain hut.
Those who enjoy woodland walks will love this route. Contouring up between the trees, seeing them thin out as you ascend. Keeping up your momentum to reach the mid-alpine pastures. Then a final effort to reach the Bella Tola mountain hut. But do be careful: although the 724-metre climb takes about 2 hours, it's advisable to have a few hours' training behind you before you attempt this route, which is classed as "red".

The downhill routes are closed when the ski lifts are not operating, and they are not protected from hazards such as avalanches or winch cat snow grooming machines.
Only climbing skins are allowed on these routes (snowshoes are not permitted). Good-quality equipment can be rented or bought from local sports shops.
To reach the resorts of Saint-Luc and Chandolin by car, leave the A9 motorway at the Sierre Est exit. At the roundabout, take the first exit for Anniviers. On reaching Vissoie, take a left turn signed for St-Luc/Chandolin. It takes about 25 minutes to reach St-Luc, and about 35 minutes to Chandolin.
