Ascent

Simplon Dorf - the ski tour starts in Simplon Dorf or Egga. From Simplon Dorf you climb in a south-westerly direction towards the Chatzustafel and further up to the Rossbodestafel. The tour continues towards Stosbode and Schilte to the summit. Follow the ridge north to the summit of the Schilthorn. In addition to the mountains, you overlook the Simplon Pass with the Altes Spittel, Barralhaus and hospice.

The Schilthorn is often climbed from the Sirwoltesee after the Galehorn. Caution is advised on the steep slopes of Schilte as snow drifts are often blown in. The long descent over the south-east slopes are often less traveled than the descent to the Chlusmatte.
