The summit of the Grosser Drusenturm on the Swiss border affords a unique panorama that stretches from the Prättigau in Switzerland to the Montafon valley and Silvretta range beyond.

Distance 22 km
The start of the ascent takes us past a few houses before we reach the entrance to the Gauertal valley. Here we follow signs to the “Lindauer Hütte”. From the Lindauer Hütte we continue in a westerly direction towards the Öfakopf, which we ascend after a section of flattish terrain. Once over a steeper passage, we immediately head left. Our ascent continues via the Sporertobel a little further to the southeast. As the ascent progresses, the slopes become ever steeper and at approx. 2600m eventually form a 40° slope between the Kleiner Drusenturm and Mittlerer Drusenturm; this passage usually calls for skis to be carried. This is the crux of the tour and should only be undertaken in safe conditions. After the steep section, the route for the final 180 vertical meters takes you up the southeastern slope to your right before traversing right and following the slope to the summit plateau and, after a short traverse, the summit itself. The descent follows the route of the ascent.
Author’s recommendation
A very popular tour destination at weekends! It is significantly quieter during the week. The Lindauer Hütte is worth a stop – the food is excellent!

Turn-by-turn directions
We start from the large hikers’ parking lot at the reservoir above the village of Latschau. The start of the ascent takes us past a few houses before we reach the entrance to the Gauertal valley. Here we keep following signs to the “Lindauer Hütte”. From the Lindauer Hütte, we continue via the Obere Sporaalpe (1739m) in a westerly direction towards the now visible Öfakopf. After a level section, climbing resumes via the Öfatobel. After a steeper passage, we immediately turn left and head south. Ahead of us between the cliffs is the Eistobel, which we pass on our right. Our ascent continues in a more southeasterly direction through the Sporertobel. After surmounting another steep section (approx. 50 vertical meters), we reach the entrance to the Sporertobel, which now rises up before us between the walls of rock. After the steep section, the route for the final 180 vertical meters takes you up the southeastern slope to your right before traversing right at approx. 2780m and following the gentle slope to the summit plateau and, after a short traverse, the summit of the Grosser Drusenturm itself (2830m). The descent follows the route of the ascent.
