Impressive and challenging bike ride through Austria , Italy and Slovenia
Perhaps the best bike route in the Alps- Adriatic region . Experience the beauty of passports ( Predil Vrsic ), 2 Ski World Cup venues ( Krajska Gora and Tavis ) and to one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria , the Faak - the South Seas!
Definitely a cappuccino in Tarvisio and the famous Gibanica ( dessert) in Kranjska Gora taste . A short stop is worthwhile in all cases.
The start is in Faak am See, from there it's partly about side roads to Tarvisio . In Tarvis it's all about the SS54 to the Passo Predil , crossing the border to Slovenia . From there, in a quick and rapid descent to the beautiful Soca Valley , known for the turquoise waters of Soca. Just before Bovec , turn on the federal highway 206 to the driveway from the Vrsic . The Vrsic is one of the longest , but also the most beautiful mountain roads in Slovenia. In a serpentine goes downhill from the highest point of the road directly to Kranjska Gora. There you have the opportunity to go directly over the root ball back to Carinthia on Faakersee , or to select the flatter variant on Tarvisio . The Wurzenpass is from the Slovenian side a short, crisp increase (3Km ) with a very fast and dangerous downhill !! After about 130km you're back at the Faakersee .
