At approximately 110 km in length, the Ourtal Route runs first through the heart of the East Belgian Eifel region and then into a pristine river valley in East Belgium's deep south.

Foxes and hares wish each other good night in the majestic woods along the way. River loops and bends slow down the ride. Relax and shift down a gear. Bustling villages and picturesque farmsteads are waiting to be explored. People like to follow the suggested route. Germany is only a stone's throw away from some of the banks of the lively and babbling Our. In the very south, the route runs for a few kilometres through the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Of course, the transition is as fluid as the Our itself, whose progress can't be stopped by national borders. This also applies to the relationship with neighbours in the East Belgian border triangle. The exchange between neighbours characterises today's everyday life more than the border, which used to be sealed off by Reuland Castle in the Middle Ages. It's no coincidence that the modern cultural, conference and exhibition centre in St Vith, the largest town on the Ourtal Route, is called "Triangel". The name says it all.
Author’s recommendation
One more tip - shortcut possible. A shortcut is possible between Setz and St. Vith. This divides the tour into a north and south loop. St. Vith is the ideal starting point for the entire route as well as for the north or south loop.
