We bike along the Slovenian coast by a few most panoramic places, visiting all three towns. Strolling by the towns can be extended as one wishes.
From Koper to Piran we visit some of the most beautiful places of Slovenian coast - panoramic spots, towns and natural areas. While we bike westwards going up and down, we return through the 2 tunnels of ex Parenzana railroad, now arranged as a bike track.
See the three historical towns, or at least Piran!

Parking place S of Koper
We park south of Koper and first enter the town to see its main landmarks. After sightseeing it, we return and ride along the coast westwards. Ex main road to Izola is now closed for car traffic and arranged for bikers, rollers, runners, etc.
Coming to Izola we keep right and bike all the time along the coast. The goal is Petelinji rt (peninsula), where we turn south, continuing along the coast. When reaching the marine, we can deter left, entering the town and do a stroll through it.
From Izola we best continue as close to the coast as possible. So we reach Simonov zaliv (bay), where remains of ancient Roman buildings and port were found. They are presented in a nice archeologic parc. Then we turn left and ride to the coastal road, which quickly starts ascending towards the Belvedere. This is the first steeper ascent, but it goes by a shady asphalt road. Before Belvedere, don't miss the panoramic resting place (Jagodje) - see the picture!
By the Belvedere restaurant we keep right and continue ascending slightly - straight towards the camp Belvedere. Then a nice road goes along the main ridge - a very panoramic part.
Reaching the crossroads before the highest point (116 m), we have an option to go right, just on the edge of the biggest flysh cliffs on Adriatic. Along the edge (natural reserve) a path goes, but it's not appropriate for biking. Then we return on the crossroads and descend steeply southwards. Quickly we are down in Strunjan.
In Strunjan we keep right, along the lagoon, reaching soon the hotel complex and Strunjan beach. Keepimng by the coast we detour the lagoon, finally reaching over a small bridge the ex saltworks. The whole area there is protected as natural reserve. Go to the hut and read about the history of the place! Then continue southwards to the main road.
The next stretch goes from Strunjan by the coastal road uphills again. In many turns we gain the ridge of Beli Križ (White Cross) and then continue along the ridge directly towards Piran. At best you reach Piran near the ancient city walls - a very nice panoramic spot, but must be paid to visit.
From the walls of Piran we enter the town and keep right, towards the big St. George church. Go on its plateau, it's again a very panoramic point! Then descend as directly as possible down to the tip of Piran's peninsula - the famous Punta tower. From there copntinue along the SW coast to the Tartini square. The whole old part of Piran is worth of criss-crossing, mainly on foot.
From Piran we ride all the time along the coast southwards and later eastwards. First we reach the Bernardin hotel complex, then the tourist town of Portorož. At the end of Portorož bay we must deter left off the coast (hard to find). At best you orient by the well seen Auditorium building. Left of it you continue towards the NE, until you reach the Parenzana tunnel. Now you are on the long-distance biking track, which you simply follow all the way back to Koper.
The first tunnel brings you to Strunjan again, then you bike inlands towards the east, until the second tunnel brings you above the Izola town. After you pass the town, keep left and descend to the coast. Then you have till the Koper only the coastal track.
