Great Hochtannberg Pass Round
This tour takes us through several sub-regions of the Northern Limestone Alps and is characterised by the descents of the Bregenzer Ach, the Lechtal and the Tannheimer Tal. In between, however, there is the conquest of the Hochtannberg Pass, which represents the transition between Vorarlberg and Tyrol. Depending on where you start the climb, the ascent overcomes 900 m over 13 km (from Au). As a reward, in addition to the fantastic landscape, there is a rapid descent and the long descent along the Lech, which tends to be downhill for a good 40 km. The ascent is a long one. On the other hand, the steep Riedberg Pass is not crossed, instead the route takes us along the Großer Alpsee lake and through the hilly country of the Bregenz Forest. Notes: The tour is mostly on main roads to ensure a brisk and fluid progress. In some places, you could switch to secondary roads.
