Turn-by-turn directions
We start at the church of “St. Peter und Paul” in “Oberammergau”. On "Ettaler Straße" turn southwards and then turn right onto "König-Ludwig-Straße". Then go over the bridge of the “Ammer” river. Directly after the bridge, we turn left on a well-secured path along the river. We follow this one, go beneath the federal road, until we reach a bridge leading to the “Ettal” mill.
At the mill, we cross the road and go on the opposite side, onto a field path. Continuing along the edge of the forest, a footpath leads from the forest to the monastery on the other side of the valley. Thus, we have reached the monastery of “Ettal”. In the village, we turn right on "Werdenfelser Straße", almost until the exit of the village. Here, the main road runs in an arch to the right, but we continue straight ahead into the "Alte Bergstraße". Afterwards, we come across the federal road and cross this one straight ahead. Then, a stony and steep path leads down to the “Gießenbach” and into the village of “Oberau”.
Via "Alte Ettaler Straße", we reach the village centre. Continue along the "Ettaler Straße", below the St. Georg hill-church, and continue to the station of “Oberau”. At the station, we cross the railway tracks and afterwards, we cross the bridge of the “Loisach”. We continue to the right over a golf course and follow the path along the edge of the forest.
We reach the sports field of “Farchant”. Via "Frickenstraße" and "Esterbergstraße", we go along the edge of the village. Then follow the signs of "Philosophenweg". On this way, we reach “Garmisch-Partenkirchen”. Here we follow the "Münchner Straße" to the left and reach our destination of the day, the “Sebastianskapelle” (chapel).
