A short 80min loop, at an easy pace, on an overgrown trail with some light climbs and some muddy patches. Spectacular views, and a charming site. Final section on road.
Starting from the large layby on the A886, two miles north of Colintraive, follow an old sheep trail on the opposite side of the road, in a southeasterly direction. It's a short climb to the top of the hill, and as you work your way over to the south east face of the hill, you get lovely views over towards Bute.
You should also be able to see the footings of Fearnoch Chapel, and the large pool created by the wellspring, in the saddle between two hills below you. If you're visiting in the middle of summer, you may not be able to see anything but fern. If that's the case, think twice about continuing.
From the chapel you can either retrace your steps, or head noprth over the saddle of the hill, down through an old woodland, and then find the roadway and turn left to get back to the parking area.
