F031 Way of St. James (Camino) Estaing-Le Soulie

After Lauds and a simple breakfast, we took a last look out of our window overlooking the old town of Estaing, had a look around the church, and crossed the bridge to continue our journey. We found ourselves in a deserted village, but found a corner shop to serve us hot chocolates. After that, we managed to lose our way, and then tried to cut back across to the correct route. We had a pleasant chat with an old man in his garden, who gave us directions, and then a friendly group of ladies in the next village, so it turned out not to be a problem. We finally found the half-concealed community on a steep wooded hillside where we had booked for the night. They were cooking sausages on an open fire as we arrived, and we had an aperitif with the hosts and the other guests, before enjoying a community meal. Our accommodation was a tiny hut just big enough to hold a double bed, but we slept very well.
