F43 Way of St. James (Camino) Espis-Moissac

We said farewell to our hostess and dog, and headed off to Moissac, taking a long route round the town arrive at the back of the abbey. We past a church in the throes of renovation, lush countryside and expensive houses on the hill, before descending to the Abbey. Then we went down to the canal, the start of the next section, and had a picnic lunch before walking back along the canal to the canal aqueduct over the river Tarn. After watching an old canal boat going through the lock and across the bridge, we returned to the Abbey to look around. As evening drew in, we went to the railway station, pausing to check out the Pilgrim hostel that we would return to the following spring, and took the train to Toulouse and thence Switzerland.
(Compare the pictures of our picnic by the canal bridge at the start of the next section, with how it looked the following March when we set off again! )
