Our hike to Hornburg on the “Via Romea” starts on the municipal market in Wolfenbüttel. Turn left into "Reichsstraße", then the "Holzmarkt" (past the "Trinitatiskirche") via "Landshuter Platz" and "Wallstraße" to "Marktstraße". We follow the "Marktstraße" to the right and cross the river “Oker”. Then turn right into "Lindener Straße". We follow this one direction south, until it becomes "Neindorfer Straße". Continue straight ahead following the road to “Neindorf”.
We cross the village on "Lindener Straße". At the end of the village, turn to the right and after a left turn, we go south again. After we have passed the golf course, we reach a country road "Allee", which leads us to the left to “Kissenbrück”. We follow the main road one time to the right and then to the left. Then we turn off the road and go to the manor "Hedwigsburg". Here we see a barn at the edge of the forest on the left. We pass this barn and follow the path along the edge of the forest. After a right-hand bend, we cross a railway line and then turn left, along the “Oker”. After a broad left curve, we cross the railway line again and arrive at the village of Bornum.
In Bornum, we go to the village centre via the “Westernstraße”. Here we keep right and then turn right into "Sundernweg". We use the next opportunity to turn left ("Windmühlenweg") to stay south again. We reach Börßum via the "Backhausweg". We follow this one until the "Hauptstraße". Turn right and walk a few metres, until we turn left into "Kleine Dorfstraße". Via the "Graube", we reach again the open field. We continue straight ahead and pass the "Vorwerk Tempelhof". After we have bypassed the buildings, we continue a little part half-right to turn left at the next intersection. Along the "Mühlen-Ilse", we reach the outskirts of Hornburg.
At the federal road, we turn right towards the centre. Then turn left into "Kurt-Sattler-Straße". After only a few steps, we turn right again and follow the footpath along the "Mühlen-Ilse". Continuing straight ahead, via the "Wasserstraße", we reach the “Marienkirche” (Pope-Clemens-Memorial Church).
