Turn-by-turn directions

Our start in Nördlingen is the St. Georg church at the market square. We go in the direction of "Reimlinger Tor", turn right into the town moat "Basteigraben", cross the "Herlinstraße" and go towards the "Marienhöhe". Here we can also follow the signs to the "Romantic Road". Follow the ridge pa, tthhrough a grove and over the country road ("Herkheimer Straße") to Reimlingen and, past a forest, to Schmähingen.

We cross Schmähingen on "Stählinstraße" and "Hürnheimer Straße". Turn left into the road "Am Birkle", out of the village, to a country road. We take this one a little bit to the left and then turn right (direction “Forellenteichen”). Around the ponds, turn right at the "Ganzenmühle" and then go into the village of “Niederaltheim”. We cross the village via the "Dorfstraße" and the street "Im Unterdorf" and then arrive in the village of “Hohenaltheim”. Via the "Weilerstraße", turn right into the "Hauptstraße" and then turn left into the "Rotengasse", through “Hohenaltheim”.

We reach Mönchsdeggingen via a field path (turn right at the “E-Werk”, then left again). Through the village, crossing the main road "Albstraße", we pass a former monastery to the right into the forest.

A longer section through the forest follows. We follow the signs of the pilgrim trail and the ones of the "Romantische Straße". Past the “Waldschänke Eisbrunn", we reach the viewing platform at the “Hühnerberg”. Down from there, we come to the town and to the castle. At the stone bridge, we reach the destination.
