Though this is a short trail, it is packed with fun. It starts at the ruins of two cabins right next to Shrine Pass, so the trailhead is fairly easy to find. This is also a great place to camp.
The trail goes into the trees and immediately starts climbing. The climb is fairly rocky, with some fun sections to negotiate.
The rocky sections soon give way to smooth trail mixed with rough switchbacks. These switchbacks take you up to a parking area where the trail ends. If you walk a bit further up the hill you can get a good view of Mount of the Holy Cross.
Enjoy the bumpy descent as you work your way back out the way you came in.
