A 30 mile/50Km run around the Kings Forest, Elvedon & Euston areas of The Brecks.
NOTE: A section of this route has a seasonal TRO in place between 31 Oct & 30 Apr.
This was a "COVID Safe" route that was used by East Anglia Off Roaders during the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020 in one of the brief periods between lockdowns where we were able to get out in small groups.
It starts off at the Ramparts Field car park between Icklingham and Lackford and heads through Kings Forest, as far as Euston, before heading back through Elvedon to arrive back at Ramparts Field.
Due to the situation at the time we created and used this route, there are no points to stop and grab refreshments or supplies so be sure to take stuff along with you.
Please also be aware that there is a seasonal TRO (Traffic Restriction Order) in place along this route between 31st October and 30th April so this route (or at least that section of it) should not be driven during this period.

Turn-by-turn directions
- From the starting point in Ramparts Field car park, turn left onto and follow Icklingham Road for 0.2 miles before turning left onto the Icknield Way green lane.
- Follow the Icknield Way green lane for 4 miles until you reach the B1106 (Bury Road) crossing in front of you. Turn left onto the B1106 and then immediately right to cross over the road and head onto the farm field opposite.
- Keeping to the clear track, cross the field until you reach the tree line opposite. Head through the trees to find a wide lane crossing your path.
- Turn right onto the lane, keeping an eye out to the right for the space between the trees that provides access to the next lane.
- Turn right and then fork immediately left to head across another field, again keeping to the obvious track.
- Head all the way across the field until you reach the next tree line and turn right to run along it for a few yards before heading left across yet another field.
- Follow the track for about 0.8 miles at which point you'll reach the start of the signposted seasonal Traffic Restriction Order (31st October to 30th April) (Note: The restriction can be avoided by turning left at the signpost and then turning right at the next junction)
- If you're outside of the restrictions, head straight on and follow the track for about 1 mile which will bring you to a house on the left and the end of the restricted section. Continue straight on here and follow the lane for 1.2 miles as it bends to the right before turning left to head towards the A134/Bury Road.
- At the junction, turn left onto the A134 and follow it for 1.3 miles before turning right onto the next lane, just after the small road junction. The entrance to this lane isn't very obvious so keep a careful watch for it.
- Once on the Icknield Way green lane, follow it for 2.6 miles past the farmland, passing through two livestock gates. Quite often, the first of these gates is left open but if it is closed when you pass it, please shut it again behind you.
- At the end of the green lane, you'll have arrived at Thetford Road on the edge of Euston. Turn left onto Thetford Road and immediately take the left onto Banham Road. Follow Banham Road for 1.9 miles until you reach the traffic lights.
- Turn left at the traffic lights, back onto the A134 for 0.1 miles before turning right onto our lext lane.
- After 0.2 miles the lane will split with a wider and more obvious track to the left. Take the narrower and less clear trail to the right that runs parallel to a field on the right. (Image)
- Follow that track for 0.3 miles where it will pass under "The Old Bridge" with a sharp right and then left. (Image)
- After 0.1 miles, take the left and then follow the green lane for about 1.5 miles, before turning left on the Icklnield Way back towards the A134 for a third time.
- At the A134, turn left and follow it for 2 miles until you reach the traffic lights.
- At the lights, turn left onto Elveden Road and follow it for 1.7 miles. Turn left onto the New Banham Slip as it heads up with woodland to the right and farmland to the left. This section of the route can be quite narrow and "scratchy".
- After about 1.5 miles, you'll come to Dukes Ride crossing your path. Turn right here and follow it for 0.3 miles where it crosses the A134.
- Head straight over the A134 and follow Dukes Ride until you reach a fence line and have to turn left onto Seven Tree Road green lane.
- Follow Seven Tree Road through the farmland for 3 miles, passing through another two livestock gates, until you reach The Street in the village of Icklingham.
- Turn left here and follow The Street for about 1.7 miles.
-
After 1.7 miles, turn left again onto Icklingham Road to arrive back at Ramparts Field car park on your left hand side.
