The Soča Trail is a nature trail taking visitors to the Triglav National Park along the Soča river from its source towards Bovec.
Picturesque footbridges crossing the river add an element of adventure to the otherwise peaceful walk.
The trail is easy to follow and is 25 km long. The direction and length of the walk can be adapted to the needs of each individual. In summer, a public bus line runs between Bovec and Kranjska Gora
The Alpe-Adria-Trail is an attractive hiking trail that connects the three regions of Austria, Slovenia and Italy. The trail runs from the Pasterze glacier at the foot of Grosglockner and ends on the Adriatic Coast. It runs through the lake region in Carinthia, through the Soča valley to the wine region of Goriška Brda and proceeds through the Karst region until it reaches the Adriatic Coast at Muggia near Trieste. The trail is about 640 km long and is divided in 37 hiking stages. The Soča Trail is considered by many to be the most beautiful section of the entire Alpe Adria trail.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the Hut at the Soča source, we can climb up to the source of the Soča river. The path is demanding, steep with a metal rope.
We then follow the signs "Soška pot" and "AAT" (Alpe Adria Trail), that will lead us down the valley to Trenta village and till Bovec. On the way to Trenta we can visit the dr. Julius Kugy monument, the Mlinarica gorge and the Alpine botanical garden Juliana. In the village Trenta we can then visit the Triglav national park info centre Dom Trenta.
The trail continues down the valley towards the village Soča. Before that, a little bit more than half way down the trail, we will pass the Small Soča Gorge.
In the village Soča, behind the church of st. Joseph with the paintings of Tone Kralj, lies the military graveyard from the 1st World War.
After the village, it's impossible to oversee the Big Soča Gorge, the most beautiful natural sights on the Soča trail.
The trail the turns towards the Lepena valley and continues towards Bovec. Before the short ascent to Bovec, we will pass the third Soča Gorge at Kršovec.
We then have 4 km left and we arrive to the centre of Bovec.
Public transport
In summer, a public bus line runs between Bovec and Kranjska Gora and makes several stops on the way.Coordinates
