Laas Valley and white marble
On this tour we will follow in the footsteps of white gold. The village of Lasa is known for its marble deposits, which are valued worldwide for their purity and resistance, not only by artists but also in the construction industry. This natural stone can also be found in numerous places in the village of Laas, which makes the place very unusual. From Laas you go up south of the Etsch on the Parnetzer Weg to the mountain farming settlement of Parnetz. At the mountain station of the works railway östlich of Parnetz, the marble leaves are brought down to the valley by a narrow-gauge railway. On the Wurmissionssteig we walk to the Obere Laaser Alm in the Laaser Tal. There we enjoy magnificent views of the glacier world at the head of the valley and the surrounding striking mountain peaks. Passing the Lower Laaser Alm, we then head out of the valley along the narrow-gauge railway. A little later, we return to the marble village of Laas under the historic water pipe.
