A trek route in a magnificent alpine environment, with breathtaking views on the peaks of the Cevedale Group eastern sector. Trail No. 108, part of S.I. (Sentiero Italia), will accompany you on the route to Rifugio Corvo, at 2425 m altitude, where you then move to trail No. 145 and quickly reach Lake Corvo, a stunning expanse of water of glacial origin. Upper Lake Corvo
From Cavallar car park (Piazzola di Rabbi) take trail No. 108. In its initial part the trail crosses three times the forest road.
After approximately 40/50 minutes you reach Malga Caldesa Bassa, lying on a lovely pasture at 1825 m altitude. Continue with trail mark 108 and, at 1933 m altitude, cross a forest road for the last time, ignoring the detour to the right leading to Malga Caldesa Alta.
The vegetation is now sparse and does not obstruct the lovely view over the valley below. As you climb on trail No. 108 you can choose between two different tracks. The most direct one (the GPS track, more to the left) runs below the cableway line and will let you emerge right in front of Rifugio Lago Corvo (2425 m), suddenly coming into view.
From the terrace of the hut, an obvious rest point, you can enjoy a truly remarkable landscape. After the regenerating stop, continue to Lake Corvo following trail No. 145 and the signs to Collecchio. After about 10 minutes you reach the lovely basins, home to two beautiful lakes. The lush green meadows all around create an extraordinary colour effect, surely to be immortalized on camera.
From Lake Corvo (Lower Lake – 2464 m) you can walk up in approx. 15 minutes to the Upper Lake (2540 m). This body of water displays an amazing range of colours that contrast sharply with the imposing monochromatic silhouette of Cima Collecchio, towering from a height of nearly 3000 m.
After the usual photos, it is time to return, back along the uphill route.
Take national road SS42 of Valle di Non and Valle di Sole. Shortly before the town of Malé, climb to the right, following the signs to Val di Rabbi. Go through the whole valley. Before "Bagni di Rabbi" turn right, following the signs to Piazzola di Rabbi. Go past it and continue uphill for a while to reach the car park (free) in Cavallar (1468 m).
