From Grän to the Aggenstein
From Pfronten, the summit of the Aggenstein would be much easier to reach with the help of the Breitenberg chairlift and the shorter approach via the north side. The tour described here from the south, however, is much more beautiful and sunny, but also more strenuous. The south side of the mountain is very often free of snow, especially in spring and autumn, and is therefore a good tip for a hike before and after the main season. During these seasons, the mountain is then also not quite so crowded with tourists, who use the convenient Breitenberg cable car from Pfronten. The short rocky ascent to the summit is secured with a thick chain like a via ferrata. The tour is therefore also listed in the via ferrata guides. The difficulty is rather easy for a via ferrata, but those who want to climb the entire summit should be practised in rocky terrain, sure-footed and free of vertigo.
