From Grindelwald to the Schreckhorn Hut

The Schreckhorn (4078 m) is located in the Bernese Alps in the canton of Bern. Superlatives are no stranger to the summit: the Schreckhorn is the northernmost four-thousand-metre peak in the Alps and thus also the northernmost four-thousand-metre peak in Europe. It is also one of the most difficult four-thousand-metre peaks in the Bernese Alps to climb. Although the approach to the Hütte and the ascent of the Schreckhorn are quite long, the effort is worth it: the Hütte approach is through a high alpine landscape and the quality of the Aare granite on the Südwestgrat makes mountaineers' hearts beat faster. This stage is a real challenge. This stage serves as an approach to the Schreckhornhütte and is the shorter and easier of the two. It impresses with an impressive, high alpine landscape and a beautiful trail on narrow paths, past waterfalls, over bües, secured sections and ladders.
