Slieve Bernagh (Slieve Bearnagh osi ref) Ramble via East Clare

The walk starts with a small discussion about the route and what to expect.
We will then procced onto the Crag Wood trail and proceed for about 1km, at which point we will leave the trail and start our adventure into the woods.
Weaving through and under the trees, now out of the sunlight, we will make our way up to a haunted rock, where it is said that the Fairy Queen of Clare, Aoibheall, resides.
After paying our respects to Aoibheall, we will then descend again through the forest to begin our second journey of the day staring with a climb up through bogland to Feenlea Mountain.
After a strenuous but short climb we shall be rewarded with a vista of East Clare’s open bogland, rich in flora and fauna and expansive views of Lough Derg.
Taking a welcoming break from climbing we shall then descend onto the East Clare way, crossing the source of Ballyteige River along the way.
Onwards and upwards with the promise of lunch, we head up once again in the direction of the Ballykildea Mountains, where we shall head for a section of clear felled forest.
There, with Views of Killaloe and surrounding mountains and valleys, we will stop for a break.
Fortified with warm tea, we then go for our final summit, the highest point in county Clare -Moylussa.
Note that this assent is very steep in parts and after recent rain it might be very slippery.
Finally we will re-join the east Clare way, descending back to the start where the view of the East Clare Mountains (and Aoibheall!) will be awaiting our return another day.
