Mountain Tour on the Maldon Ridge

The Maldon ridge is a lonely and panoramic peak in the Lechtal Alps. In summer, the mountain meadows around the Steinjöchl are a veritable sea of flowers consisting of gentian, cyclamen, alpine roses and much more. The higher we get, the more impressive the view becomes– to the south we can discover the mountain peaks of the Ötztal and Stubai Alps, to the west lies the Hornbach chain and the main ridge of the Allgäuer Alps. Up to the Steinjöchl we hike on a stony, but still reasonable mountain trail through meadows and mountain pine forest. From there, however, the trail becomes narrower and more exposed, and on the ascent through the south face of the Maldon ridge, several rock ribs have to be negotiated. The trail is still well marked, but there are no artificial safety devices such as wire ropes in the rock. Therefore, the tour is reserved for experienced mountaineers.
