Promising mountain hike on the west bank of Lake Garda with climbing spots over the east ridge of Monte Pizzocolo
Thanks to its striking shape, Monte Pizzocolo can be recognized from afar. This probably also gave the mountain the nickname "Naso di Napoleone". “Monte Serà” - evening mountain - is also a common name for the summit. The Monte Pizzocolo high above the west bank of Lake Garda presents itself as an excellent panoramic mountain in appropriate weather conditions. Nonetheless, the abundance of flowers that can be admired in spring is splendid: crocuses and snowdrops, peonies and lilies vie for the viewer's attention.
While the normal route over the Malga Valle is long but not difficult to walk, experienced people opt for the more demanding and less frequented ascent over the southeast ridge. The variant over the east ridge that we take on this tour is not signposted. When passing the limestone cliffs on the ascent, some climbing spots await us, which is why alpine experience is necessary.
