Mountain tour via the Gaisalpsee to the Rubihorn
The start of our hike takes us through the forest. Following the Gaisalpbach stream, we walk on a Tobelweg through partly impassable terrain: over tree roots, stones and bridges overflowing with water (alternatively also on the asphalt road). Then we reach the managed Gais- and Richteralpe. For those who are in good shape, the route is easy. Those who are not particularly fit can end their tour here and enjoy the impressive view in the direction of Sontofen and Kempten. For the well-trained, the tour really begins now. Over the mountain meadow, which is grazed in summer, we hike towards the mountain pine forest. There, a steep and not particularly wide serpentine path awaits us – a real sweat-inducing sting. Once we have mastered this first hurdle, the Untere Gaisalpsee (Lower Gaisalp Lake) rewards us with a welcome refreshment, which we have well deserved after the strenuous ascent.
