CLOSED FOR THE YEARS 2019 & 2020 due to a massive landslide! Mountain Bike Tour 3 through 3 countries

Beginning at the beautiful „Faaker See“ (Lake Faak), this ride begins with its only significant climb to “Annahütte.” This, and the Slovenian border, will be reached after 14 kilometers where you can enjoy an unforgettable view of all of Carinthia and the Julian Alps. 

Here you begin a rapid descent which lasts 30 kilometers until you reach the world-famous ski town of Kranjska Gora.  This pretty spot in the middle of the Julian Alps is perfect for a short break.  After that you take either the bike trail towards “Italien” (Italy), or a detour on a World Cup run called “Vitranc.”  A few minutes later you will reach the Italian border where there is a short and crisp climb to the “Weissenfelser Seen” (Laghi di Fusine or White Rock Lakes).  After arriving there you will be able to enjoy a glorious panoramic view of the mountains and two deep-blue lakes.  After this, you go past Tarvis and take “die alte Römerstrasse” (old Roman road) to Arnoldstein, where you will bike right by a newly restored castle.  From here you take wavy single-trails and forest paths back to the Faaker See.
