Turn-by-turn directions

From the village of Malè (Sports field) take the pleasant singletrack road through the woods (some parts of the road are uneven and technical) to the small village of Carciato. A long uphill dirt road begins here through the wooded Val Meledrio until reaching some uncultivated land and just above, the Malga di Presson (Pont del Pastin). Carry on, on a wider dirt road uphill on the edge of pastureland, before entering some woods with giant spruce trees, up to a junction. To the right is the Malga di Presson, taking the left you go in direction of Passo Camp Carlo Magno. This name gives the impression that it owes itself to a journey made by the famous Emporer Carlo Magno between the 8th and 9th centuries. In fact the pass was named only at the end of 1800. The splendid view of the Val Centonia (where the Val di Sole gets most of its drinking water from) and the surrounding mountains.
Making absolutely sure you stay on the right, bypass the entrance barrier, here the road will become steeper, passing a small religious monument and some sharp bends the state road SS239 Madonna di Campiglio-Dimaro in the locality known as Prà del Mazza. Staying on the left, in gradual descent, you break away from the state road crossing the torrent Meledrio you arrive on the opposite side and from here keping always on the right you will arrive at Malga Mondifrà (the monks mountain: in antique times it belonged to a religious organisation who guarded the 'L’ospizio di S. Maria di Campiglio' 1.632 m), situated at the foot of the Dolomites. Continuing straight on you will once again be in woodland after which there is some pastureland and a steep curve.
Moving gradually downhill on the right follow the path which rises on the pastureland and, bypassing some steep stretches of road with exposed roots you will reach the side of the golf course and the houses in Passo Campo Carlo Magno. Staying on the right and following the winter cross-country piste through some small fields you will find yourself in the proximity of the state road SS239 and the Residence Rio Falzè. From here downhill for 500 metres until arriving at the dirt road signposted Malga Darè and arriving after a few kilometres (a wonderful view from here of the Brenta mountains). After the Malga there is an isolated marshy area with no signs which leads to the Malga di Dimaro (1.662 m). Go left here onto the dirt road, quite flat to start with and then much steeper, from here uphill until reaching Malghet Aut (1.861 m, ski-lifts, bar, etc). Here go left in the direction of Monte Vigo-Rifugio Orso Bruno following the road of varying levels and along the slopes of Monte Spolverino will take you to Rifugio Orso Bruno resfreshments and again a spectacular view over the Brenta mountains). It is downhill from here on a very stoney road towards Malga Panciana. Immediately below turn left towards Rifugio Orti.
On a short but nevertheless difficult road (watch out for some wooden steps) you will reach the forest road for Malghet di Mezzana. From here downhill untill arriving at a sharp bend after which there is an easy dirt road which leads to Malga Fazzon Alta, a downhill ride to Fazzon and the car park for Lago di Caprioli (near the car park there is the malga Bassa Fazzon which has recently been rebuilt and which houses a vsitor centre (specifically concerned with the Natural Park and the presence of the Brown Bear). After a short detour you will reach the lake. Well worth it! From the car park there is a wide uphill dirt road through the woods which descends to Val Piana. From here directly to Ossana from where the cycle path will take you back to Malè.
