The Dragon's Back

A classic cross country route with lots of up and down. A real flavour of what the Cambrian Mountains has to offer without once going near man made single-track.
Old School riding finishing in a choice of traditional Welsh pubs serving good food and quality local ales.
The Dragons Back
A fantastic 2-3 hour ride into the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. Starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Tal-y-bont the route climbs in and out of three stunning Cwm's (valleys). This is a great route providing something for all abilities.
As with all riding in Wales be prepared for plenty of climbing but its definitely worth the effort. The final descent from Mynydd Gorddu Windfarm is a nice bit of grassy bridleway that affords views right accross "Cors Fochno" (a raised peat bog of international importance), to the sea and the vast Cardigan Bay beyond.
This is old school riding using bywyas and bridleways, you wont see any man made singletrack. The great thing about this is that you might be in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains but you're never more than a couple of miles from the nearest village which means there are plenty of escape routes if the weather turns or you suffer a "technical".
It all finishes off back in Tal-y-bont with its choice of two pubs situated on the village green. What better way to finish a ride than with a couple of real ales with your feet up in front of a roaring fire.
