Scaling Dam loop

Park at either end of the dam and then follow the road towards Guisborough for 3-5km (depending on which end you park!) before turning off left towards Danby. At the point where the road turns sharp left continue straight ahead joining a track across the moors. After approx 1.5km pickup a bridleway heading south across the moor to a summit stone in the distance. The track bends to the right initially but then comes back towards the stone before dropping down to meet the road at the Danby village sign. Here turn left and head back up the hill to the Clitherbeck Farm on the right and turn right, initially along the farm track and then straight on across the moor through the disused workings and on to join a road. At the road turn left and follow the stead incline to the Danby Beacon for great views in all directions. At the beacon follow the track east for around 1km before picking up another bridleway across the moor. This is a great singletrack ride north and then bending north easterly to join a minor road close to the main Guisborough to Whitby moors road. Turn left and then left on the main road and back to the car
