A scenic route on a mix of quiet roads and tracks with a great downhill through Wendover woods followed by the Wendover canal to Wendover and retuning via the S Buck Way
A great workout and one of my favourites: it is winter friendly but that does not mean no mud, it just means you can cycle the whole route! Allow 2.5 hours of cycling time or a bit longer if you do this in the winter. I like to stop at the delicatescence coffee shop in Wendover (No2 Pound Street) which is about 2/3rds of the way around.
It starts by following ‘Route 57’ out of Great Missenden and you pick it up again at the end. This has to be the steeepest cycle path know - a real challenge
The downhill to the Wendover canal is excellent – it is worth doing the ride just for that.
The route from Wendover to Gt Missenden is mostly road then a stioff off-road climb on a good track up to Dunsmore. From there the track is flat but in very wet conditions can be heavy going along the S Bucks Way before getting back on the road. One more stiff road climb and you are off road again on Route 57 back to Great Missenden
