Despite its busy nature and boggy bogs, Doethie Valley is a beautiful and surprising mountain bike trail.

Doethie Valley is not without its critics. Two-thirds of the loop is double-tracked with significant traffic. The single track on the Afon Doethie side is desperately in need of maintenance, crossing boggy peat bogs and some erosion areas.
So why is this route worth the diversions? Well, because on a sunny day, after a dry spell, the quality of the single track and the tranquillity of this beautiful and intimate valley are incomparable. The climb up to the upper Doethie Valley is endless, but the views are fantastic. The descent is technical with roots and rocks. The highlight of the hike is a stunning section of rocky slabs where you can roll and jump as you please.
