Corfe Castle to Worth Matravers via Brenscombe Hil

A ride along two ridges, the first of which is longer, steeper and higher, and takes you over Brenscombe Hill and Nine Barrow Down with magnificent views across Poole Harbour, out to sea and down into the valley. A thrilling descent drops you at the road. Several instructions and junctions later find you at the start of Priest's Way. This starts in a somewhat disjointed fashion with a surfeit of gates but soon improves. The pub at Worth Matravers is quite a curiosity. The detour to St Alban's Head is certainly worth the effort for more superb views and a look at an amazing little chapel. The return brings the dramatic outline of Corfe Castle closer and closer, finishing with a game of dodge the gorse bush over Corfe Common.
