Turn-by-turn directions
From the top of the Tognola gondola lift at 2200 m above sea level (approx. 7217ft), take the forest road as far as Malga Tognola at 1988m a.s.l. (6522ft). From here, to get to the forestry building in Valsorda, the trail has been recently repaired and fitted with wooden board walks which cross the marshland, before it heads off into the Valsorda woods for some fun on an excellent flow trail. From the forestry building, continue along the forest road towards Caoria.
RETURN TO SAN MARTINO DI CASTROZZA
1) From Caoria, cycle as far as Canal San Bovo (717m - 2352ft asl) along the provincial road, then climb up to Lake Calaita (1621m - 5318ft asl, very steep section) and from there, continue on the forest trail which returns to San Martino (1487m - 4878ft a.s.l.) via Malga Crel;
2) From Caoria, cycle as far as Canal San Bovo (717m - 2352ft asl), taking the road for the Gobbera Pass where the Via Nova trail starts which goes gently down to the villages of Primiero and ends at Fiera di Primiero (717m - 2352ft asl). From here, either get a bus or a taxi to San Martino di Castrozza or climb up to the town of Pezze Alta (990m - 3248ft asl) where the forest trail starts and goes past Dismoni (1200m - 3937ft asl), and the Malga Crel, taking you back to San Martino di Castrozza (1467m - 4812ft asl);
3) From Caoria, take the public transport service (check the times of Trentino Trasporti during the summer season), or a private taxi service.
