Mittelbünden (Central Grisons) is considered the unknown beauty of the Grisons. Many know the Schanfigg and the Prättigau Valley from passing through, but here lie some of the mountainbike gems of Graubünden. On the three-day Hüttentour through the alpine mountain world of Central Grisons, two of the most extraordinary mountain huts are approached.

The third day begins with the descent in the morning sun down to St. Antönien. For this you follow the singletrail parallel to the road for long stretches, only the last meters to the village center lead over the road with little traffic. Now it‘s time for the first ascent up to the Stelsersee lake. The ascent is a mixture of asphalt roads, gravel paths and singletrails. Finally the mountain ridge is reached, the view from up here over the high moor plain down to the Prättigau is first class. The descent is also first class, which initially leads over velvety meadow trails, then changes to gravel road for a bit, and then turns into the supertrail down to Buchen. This section is the first but not the last highlight of the day.

Because the Fadärastein is still the finalissima. For this you follow the trails along the river Landquart until Grüsch and then climb on the road up to Seewis. After passing through the village, you continue uphill and gain altitude on asphalt roads. Only the last meters up to the Fadärastein lead over a trail, where sometimes you have to push a meter or two. 600 meters of altitude have been climbed from the valley floor near Grüsch, which is now repaid in the form of a first-class descent. The first meters along a rocky ledge are steep and tricky, then the path becomes more fun with every meter. One serpentine follows the other, the descent to Malans is fast, smooth and fun. In the winegrowing village of Malans, it is worthwhile to toast the past three days in one of the restaurants or in a traditional winery bistro (Torkel) in the middle of one of the wineries. Later, it is only a stone‘s throw to Landquart. Here the tour ends with the return journey by train to Chur or on the direct way home.
